OUR STANCE

The Challenge:
A Threat to Wildlife and Tradition

Hunters and conservationists across northern Minnesota are facing an alarming decline in the deer population due to improper wolf management. The frustration, fear, and anger are growing, as critical decisions about our wildlife are being made by urban policymakers far removed from the wilderness. This disconnect between those who manage the land and those who live on it threatens not only our traditions but also the ecological balance that supports them.

WOLF MANAGEMENT

OUR STANCE

Hunters for Hunters advocates for wolf population control across Minnesota and the Great Lakes region to preserve prey species like deer and moose, benefiting the hunting community.

  • Federal delisting of wolves in the Great Lakes region as an endangered species.

  • An emergency order from Minnesota's governor directing the MN DNR to assist in the delisting process.

  • A state law requiring a wolf hunting and trapping season.

  • The MN DNR to manage the wolf population to the target of 1,600 wolves as outlined in Minnesota’s Wolf Management Plan.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

At the core of this problem lies a villain—a sluggish legislative process that prevents swift action and keeps us from protecting both the hunt and the natural balance of wildlife.

Without proper management, the future of hunting hangs in the balance.

CWD Management

H4H Official Position Statement on CWD culling/killing of wild deer and CWD management.

Hunters For Hunters board members have thoroughly researched the issue of CWD, and here are our official positions on the issue of CWD:

1) We have learned that CWD is not a deer density disease, which means that the spread of CWD is not dependent on the number of deer per square mile, and that the rate of CWD spread remains the same regardless of deer density.

2) We are aware that there is zero scientific evidence of a state stopping or slowing the spread of CWD through culling/killing of wild deer.

3) We are aware that the biggest threat to our hunting heritage is the lack of hunter retention, hunter recruitment, and proper game management. The fear mongering that a state does with the public while attempting to gain support for culling/killing deer is having a huge negative impact on both hunter retention and hunter recruitment.

4) We are aware that CWD was discovered about 50 years ago, that it may have been around and simply undiscovered forever, and that there has never been one documented case of CWD jumping to a human.

5) We are aware that there is no documentation of CWD destroying and totally wiping out a deer herd. Deer herds have an incredible rate of fawn retention and if predators are controlled, deer populations rapidly increase, even in known CWD areas, and hunters are needed to control the deer population. We support hunters controlling deer populations, not state or federal agencies. Reference:

6) We are aware that there is no scientific evidence that feeding deer will increase the spread of CWD. Deer are known to be social groomers, which means that they lick and groom each other on a daily basis. Winter feeding of deer does not encourage deer to have more social and physical contact. A winter-feeding ban does not limit the spread of CWD.

Hunters For Hunters is formally against a state or federal agency culling/killing deer to control the spread of CWD, and we are opposed to deer feeding laws that are used in an attempt to slow the spread of CWD.

BRAND PROMISE:
THE VOICE OF THE HUNTER

At Hunters 4 Hunters, we stand for the hunter, the wildlife, and the tradition. Without proper wildlife management, the very act of hunting is at risk. We are here to ensure that doesn’t happen. Through education, action, and advocacy, we will bridge the gap between policymakers and the people who live and breathe hunting.
